The Prettiest Lunch at Petersham Nurseries
I have possibly found the prettiest restaurant in London! (In Richmond, to be a little more precise).
At Petersham Nurseries Cafe the experience is essentially of eating in a dreamy flower-filled garden. Surely you cannot ask for more on a lovely summer’s day or a balmy autumn afternoon? Of course, it going without setting this is the perfect venue for a romantic date!
Here, within a plant-filled glasshouse, seasonal dishes using the freshest ingredients and adorned with colourful edible flourishes are served to the buzzing clientele. Some plates are simply to pretty to eat!
The restaurant is hidden within the bohemian jungle of greenhouses and gardens of Petersham Nurseries. Founded over 10 years ago by the Boglione family, Petersham Nurseries has a new head chef at its helm, Damian Clisby, previously head chef at HIX Soho and Cotswold House. We went there for a leisurely Friday lunch, and loved every single minute there. Petersham Nurseries is a heavenly feast both for the eyes and the belly.
Surely, just looking at these pictures would make you want to make your way to this magical place at once?
To start off, a signature in-house aperatif, Petersham Rose Petal Prosecco.Lightly fried Zucchini Blossoms with Sage & Lemon to snack on whilst our mains are prepared.Cornish Lobster Tortelinni in a light vegetable broth as a starter.Coppa (Italian cured meat) with heritage tomatoes and flowers
Succulent sirloin steak with garden herb salt, beetroots, chard and horseradish.
Roast chicken with smoked guanciale, broad beans, peas and broad beans.Thyme poached peaches with peach sorbet
Afterwards, you have a chance to purchase plants as well as some very pretty garden paraphernalia. Shabby chic chandeliers always catch my eye!
Since Petersham Nurseries (and Richmond) are a bit of a ways form Central London, we decided to make a little half-day, starting with a lovely stroll through leafy Richmond Park, drinking in the nature, looking for the wild deer and working up our appetite!
